Privacy policy
Last updated: 4 October 2026
Unicorner is the data controller for personal data collected through this football trivia game. For privacy questions, access requests or deletion requests, email joseasalasnl@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Gameplay and analytics data: game events, question views, answer outcomes, canonical correct answers, scores, timings, skips/timeouts, device and screen basics, language, timezone, referrer/path, a random session identifier and a random persistent visitor identifier used to measure return visits and retention. We do not intentionally store names or email addresses in analytics events. During testing, when an answer is rejected, we store the exact typed answer together with the question so we can find missing valid answers and improve typo/name matching.
- Messages and submissions: information you choose to send through contact, question-submission, problem-report or Infinite-mode forms, which may include your name, email address and message.
- Accounts, rankings and leagues (optional): if you sign in to appear on the global ranking or use leagues, we store your email address (from Google sign-in or the sign-in link you request), the nickname you choose, the leagues you create or join, your daily game scores, and whether you ticked “I don’t want reminders or Unicorner news”. The daily game itself never requires an account.
- Newsletter choice: whether you actively tick the optional newsletter box, plus the time of that opt-in.
Why we use it and our lawful basis
Who processes data
- Supabase provides the database and backend. The Unicorner Supabase project is hosted in the EU (Ireland).
- GitHub hosts our source code and deployment workflow and may process technical data associated with hosting/deployment.
- FormSubmit relays form submissions to our email inbox when you submit a form.
- Google confirms your identity if you choose “Continue with Google” and shares your email address and basic profile with us.
- Google Fonts serves some website fonts and may receive standard request information such as your IP address and browser details.
Some service providers may process data outside the EU/EEA under their own applicable transfer safeguards and privacy terms.
Cookies and local storage
Unicorner does not currently use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies. We use browser local storage and session storage for game state and analytics. A random first-party visitor identifier is stored in local storage so we can count new and returning players and measure retention across days. It is not linked to a name or email and is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. We also keep a temporary session identifier in session storage. If you sign in for leagues, your sign-in session is stored in local storage so you stay signed in on that device until you sign out.
How long we keep data
- Raw gameplay analytics, scores and answer-pick records: up to 12 months.
- Contact messages, reports, question submissions and waitlist submissions: up to 2 years.
- Player accounts (email, nickname, league memberships): until you ask us to delete them. Ranking and league scores: up to 12 months.
- Aggregated or non-identifying statistics may be kept longer.
These retention periods are enforced automatically in our database.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to use of your personal data, and to withdraw consent. Email joseasalasnl@gmail.com and tell us what you need. We may ask for enough information to identify the relevant submission before acting on a request.
Marketing
For the newsletter form we only send marketing where you actively opted in. League players receive occasional reminders and Unicorner news unless they opt out. Every marketing email will include a way to unsubscribe, and you can also unsubscribe by emailing us at any time.
Changes
We may update this policy as Unicorner changes. The latest version will always be linked from the game footer.
